2026/2027 Theme Based Art Contest: What My Culture Means to Me
Students will create art projects based on their interpretation of the theme: “What My Culture Means to Me”. Students, create your project in any of the above categories, write your statement on how your project relates to the theme, and turn in! All work will be judged and displayed at our gallery show.
*All Art Displays Will Be ANONYMOUS During School Hours*
HOW PARTICIPATE IN REFLECTIONS ART CONTEST:

2. Choose a Category & Create: Visual Arts, Photography, Literatures, Dance or Film
3. Fill-out Artist Statement - interpretation is more important than art skill
4. Turn in via Online Entry Form: 10.9-10.6
(Visual Arts and Photography will bring in physical work at a later date)
5. Awards & Gallery Show TBD in October
TURN-IN FINISHED WORK ONLINE: 10.9-10.16
Please NO SIGNATURES or name on the front of the Document or Art. Artist statements should be thought out, as this is the most important to this contest. Digital files and entries can be sent: via Google Entry Form or by emailing: RedwoodMsReflections@gmail.com.
Submissions Format
Be sure you closely follow the CAPTA directions for your art category (Visual Arts, Film, etc…) found here: CAPTA Rules & Guidelines.These include:
Visual Art or Photography
- Mount your artwork (Visual Art or Photography) on black foam core or cardboard covered in black paper, using tape. ( See rules for 3D work on the CAPTA website.)
- Foam core mounting: use masking tape or other adhesive to mount artwork in center of foam core, make sure to have a 1-4 inch border of black showing, like a frame. (not to exceed size 24"x30" including border for Visual Arts, 11"x14" including border for photography).
- Redwood PTSA will mount art if you are unable to do so.
Literature
-Must be submitted on 8.5"x11" paper and be up to 2,000 words. Visit CAPTA website for acceptable forms to submit.
Music Composition, Dance Choreography, and Film
-Submissions must not exceed 5 minutes. Visit the CAPTA website for acceptable forms to submit.
General Information and Forms
Students are responsible for following the PTSA Reflections guidelines & for turning in a complete registration form.
This year's deadline is October 9th - 16th via online form.
